A Few Things Students Ask Ankur
Where are you based?
I work from North Oxford, with easy access to local bus and train connections. My home studio is set up for both natural-light and studio-light portraits.
Do I need a professional headshot as a student?
Not for every situation, but it can be useful when you are preparing for internships, graduate programs, university profiles, networking, or early-career roles. A current photo on LinkedIn also helps people recognise you after meeting online or in person.
What is a student headshot session like?
We begin with a short chat, then keep the session relaxed and conversational. I give simple direction when it helps, without over-directing every moment, so we can create photographs that feel natural.
How long does a session take?
Most sessions run for 60–90 minutes. That gives us time to create a useful range of expressions and looks without rushing.
What should I wear?
Choose something comfortable that reflects how you would like to be seen in a professional or academic setting. Simple, well-fitting clothing usually works well. If you are unsure, bring a couple of options and we can look at them together.
I feel nervous about being photographed. Does that matter?
Not at all. Many people feel that way before a session. We will take the time needed for you to settle in, and there is no pressure to get everything right immediately.
